New Age Caravans: Manufactured for Australia
With a skilled workforce of more than 150 people and the latest technological advances, New Age Caravans has a reputation for being one of Australia’s premium manufacturers.
Founded in 2004, New Age Caravans began as New Age Frames & Designs and specialised in providing structural framing along with a plethora of other CNC fabricated componentry. In 2008 the company transitioned to recreational vehicle manufacturing and set their sights on revolutionising Australia’s caravan Industry with the shift from wooden, rustic interiors into a modern apartment-style aesthetic.
Today New Age manufactures thousands of recreational vehicles each year for the Australian and New Zealand market, everything from camper trailers and family bunk vans through to top-end luxury ranges.
New Age Caravan’s General Manager for Sales and Marketing, Darren Swenson said its local, state of the art production facility is the driving force behind the company’s success, with all of its products manufactured in Epping, Victoria.
“New Age Caravans has always manufactured our products locally - we don’t know any other way. Starting as a small manufacturer of caravan side frames in 2008, we expanded into full caravans in 2009 and have grown steadily ever since. We’re proud to be an Australian company that manufactures our products locally in Melbourne,” said Mr Swenson.
“There has never been a logical reason to move any part of our manufacturing overseas. We will never sacrifice quality for cost-cutting. Australian conditions and temperatures are unique, and we found that other international products are not built to withstand Australia’s unique climate. Even the names of our caravans reflect our Australian identity. Our very first caravan was the Big Red, then the Little Joey, the Rockin’ Wallaby and so on with each range having a uniquely Australian name.”
Winners of the ‘Best customer care’ and ‘Best build quality’ awards at Caravan World’s 2019 Best Aussie Vans competition, New Age hold themselves to the highest standards of design, manufacturing and after-sales support.
“The two biggest benefits that come from manufacturing locally are building a skilled workforce and quality assurance. When products are produced, we can keep a close eye on the manufacturing process and ensure they are compatible with the various conditions and terrains in Australia. Manufacturing locally has also allowed us to build solid relationships with local suppliers to ensure we not only use the best quality materials but are also working with companies that understand Australia’s caravan industry.”
Since its acquisition by the Walkinshaw Automotive Group in 2018, New Age Caravans has integrated the automotive expertise in engineering, design and manufacturing of its parent company to introduce a new level of innovation to the RV industry.
“We are passionate about Research and Development. Every stage of our product’s building process has been planned and pre-determined to ensure the highest standard of quality and efficiency. We also incorporate international manufacturing principles to deliver the highest quality finished product,” said Mr Swenson.
Proudly Australian Made, all of New Age Caravan’s products leave the factory floor displaying the iconic green and gold kangaroo logo – the true mark of Aussie authenticity.
“While we have always been manufacturing our products in Australia, we wanted to make sure the Australian public knew that we did. Pairing with a reputable company like Australian Made ensures that our customers know with absolute certainty that we are truly Australian Made.
New Age Caravans has a long and proud history of manufacturing locally and being able to put the easily recognisable green and gold Australian Made logo on our products helps solidify our status to customers.”
The Australian Made logo is Australia’s most trusted, recognised and widely used country of origin symbol, and is underpinned by a third-party accreditation system, which ensures products that carry the logo are certified as ‘genuinely Australian’.
“It’s important that people know when they see the Australian Made logo they can trust that they are buying a quality product that is made in Australia, for Australians and contributes to the Australian economy,” said Mr Swenson.
“There has never been a more important time to buy Australian Made. The last six months have been incredibly difficult for businesses of all kinds all over Australia. Buying Australian Made ensures that Australian businesses can continue to employ Australians and contribute to the Australian economy.”
